*MAGICAL MOVEMENT

AGE 2-6 YEARS

(CARETAKER PARTICIPATION REQUIRED)

Dance belongs to everyone. In this class, dancers with disabilites and neurodiversity explore the beauty and magic of movement in a safe and inclusive environment. Dancers will work on social and emotional skills while improving coordination, balance, and confidence.

CLASS LENGTH - 30 MINUTES

DANCING TOGETHER I & II

AGE 18- 24 MONTHS, AND 2 YEARS

(CARETAKER PARTICIPATION REQUIRED)

Beginning dancers, along with a grown-up, are introduced to Ballet through creative imagery, props and music. They learn to express themselves and gain coordination through movement, as well as practice skills like taking turns, identifying colors and shapes, and following directions, in a structured class environment.

CREATIVE BALLET I & II

AGE 3-4 YEARS

In their first independent class, dancers enjoy a balanced curriculum of creative movement and age-appropriate classical Ballet. They are introduced to beginning positions, terminology and traveling steps. This class helps them gain confidence, meet friends and explore feelings through props, storytelling and plenty of imagination.

CREATIVE COMBO

AGE 4 YEARS

TAP AND JAZZ - Dancers are introduced to two upbeat styles of dance: Tap and Jazz. Tap curriculum develops rhythm and sound. Jazz curriculum fosters creative expression and coordination. Tap and Jazz alternate weekly so that dancers are exposed to a variety of movement, music and choreography.

JAZZ AND ACRO - Dancers are introduced to two upbeat styles of dance: Acro and Jazz. Acro curriculum will focus on control and body awareness. Jazz curriculum fosters creative expression and coordination. Acro and Jazz alternate weekly so that dancers are exposed to a variety of movement, music and choreography.

CLASS LENGTH - 45 MINUTES

PRIMARY BALLET I

AGE 5-6 YEARS

Dancers are introduced to more traditional elements of a Ballet class. They participate in a Ballet warm-up, stretches and center work. This class emphasizes proper technique, terminology and positions, with a curriculum designed to build dancers’ strength, grace and confidence.

PRIMARY COMBO

AGE 5- 6 YEARS

TAP AND JAZZ - Young dancers further explore the styles of Tap and Jazz. Tap curriculum includes more complicated rhythms and traveling combinations. Jazz curriculum increases flexibility and stamina. Tap and Jazz alternate weekly.

JAZZ AND ACRO - Young dancers further explore the styles of Acro and Jazz. Dancers will focus on building upper and lower body strength, as well as increasing confidence and coordination during Acro. Jazz curriculum increases flexibility and stamina with a focus on stage presence. Acro and Jazz alternate weekly.

CLASS LENGTH - 45 MINUTES

PRIMARY BALLET II

AGE 7-9 YEARS

Dancers begin a very exciting part of Ballet class: barre work. They build upon their benchmarks from Creative and Primary Ballet by learning about placement and musicality. This class is a wonderful introduction to a traditional Ballet class; importantly, the tone is Studio One Dance’s signature whimsical fun.

CLASS LENGTH - 60 MINUTES

PRIMARY TAP

AGE 7-9 YEARS

Dancers will continue to develop rhythm, style and sound in this level. Focus will be placed on musical awareness, producing clear tap sounds, timing and speed of movement. Curriculum will include an introduction to a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap.

CLASS LENGTH - 60 MINUTES

PRIMARY JAZZ

AGE 7-9 YEARS

In this level, students will learn more challenging choreography and improvisation skills, with a focus on co-ordination, balance and stamina. We will continue the study of musicals and theater production, with an emphasis on stage presence.

PRIMARY LYRICAL

AGE 7-9 YEARS

Often described as the combination of ballet and jazz, lyrical dance uses the story within music to inspire the movements of the dancer. This class will teach dancers to move expressively, connect with the emotion in music, as well as increase their flexibility and core strength.

CLASS LENGTH - 60 MINUTES

PRIMARY BALLET III

AGE 9-10 YEARS *TEACHER RECOMMENDATION AND 2 YEARS DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

During class dancers continue to enhance their strength and refine their technique with special attention to execution, grace and musicality. We’ll focus on more complicated center floor work and conditioning exercises while reinforcing ballet class etiquette. Additional weekly technique class strongly recommended.

CLASS LENGTH - 60 MINUTES

CHOREOGRAPHY AND PROGRESSIONS

AGE 9-10 YEARS *TEACHER RECOMMENDATION AND 2 YEARS DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Dancers will learn a variety of choreography and traveling progressions with a focus on lyrical, jazz, modern and contemporary disciplines. Dancers will strengthen their memory for choreography while being introduced to new dance styles. Additional weekly technique class strongly recommended.
